Hi, I've installed OpenOffice and I've gone to your website (twice)

A bit complicated, but see:

If the permissions are set correctly, check inside the file for the
following:

  <node oor:name="Misc">
   <prop oor:name="FirstRun" oor:type="xs:boolean">
    <value>true</value>
   </prop>
  </node>

To turn off the prompt for registration, change true to false.

Another similar solution involves editing the Setup.xcu file. This file
has the following property:

<prop oor:name="FirstStartWizardCompleted" oor:type="xs:boolean">
<value>true</value>
</prop>

which, as seen here, should be set to true.

It is always a good idea to back up files, usually by simply copying
them, before editing them.

... and to have a short look at

  </prop>
  <prop oor:name="LicenseAcceptDate" oor:type="xs:string">
   <value>2007-06-08T15:44:47</value>
  </prop>

... and to compare it with the time of the operating system (OS -
especially regarding software which is resetting time of OS ...)

If that is confusing... which I suspect it will be, then I recommend the
following (assuming you are using Windows):

1. Go to the Control Panel and uninstall OOo. I recommend a reboot
afterwards to ensure nothing is left in temp files.
2. Reinstall OOo, and this time when asked to register simply check the
'I do not wish to register' (or similar wording) and go from there.

It seems to be necessary, to finish this box with 'Finish' or 'OK' [?]
(there were users who only closed the window without 'Finish'/'OK' and
the problem above arose [not tested it myself]).

If you still have problems after doing 1 & 2, then I recommend
downloading an using Ccleaner: http://www.ccleaner.com/
As with all registry cleaner utilities, be sure to save a backup of your
registry. CCleaner is simple to use; I use it to clean my customers
computers and have yet to have a problem because of the program.
Then repeat 1 & 2.

I would recommend Ccleaner, too; my experience: it's really helpful to
such installation problems with OOo (especially if there occurred
trouble with older versions of OOo and removing them from Windows
registry).

Hopefully in the next version of OOo they will fix this bug - it's been
opened in the past but somehow seems to get closed each time. Perhaps
it's time to reopen?

Anybody out there, who knows the # of such an issue-report?

Manfred
