Hi,
I have downloaded Open Office 2.2.1 and my computer refuses to load it.
It tells me that the file is corrupted and I should contact the
provider for a new copy. I am using Windows XP2 and I have Microsoft Office
installed. I have a feeling that Microsoft just doesn't want me to have
Free Office. How can I get around this problem?
I tried yesterday and downloaded from Hippo. Today I downloaded from Open
Office direct with the same problem.

First try the following:
1. Disconnect your computer completely from the internet.
2. Disable your Antivirus (AV) and firewall software.
3. Try the install again.
4. Regardless of the result, restart your AV and firewall and reconnect to
the internet. Never leave your system connected to the net if your AV and
firewall are not both running properly.
If the above worked, hoorah. Stop reading now.
If not, read the Microsoft article at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
. Download and run the program it talks about.
If you still can't install OpenOffice then let us know and we'll have
another think.
