Apparently it works on Debian; I seem to recall that I'd tried this
(using alien to convert of course) and it didn't work and screwed up OOo
(original). I probably didn't copy to the directories as listed in these
instructions... I'll have to give it a try. It still doesn't solve the
OP's original problem as he's looking to convert xlsx files rather than
Word files.
