I've just noticed a disturbing fault in Openoffice (on Open SUSE Linux). Searching in a text (with "Find") failed to turn up a word I knew was there. I found it later and noticed that it contains a conditional hyphen (optional hyphen, discretionary hyphen, soft hyphen). I made some other tests with the conditional hyphen (entered with control-hyphen), and sure enough, it ignores them. Bad Openoffice!
Is this a known fault? Is it a trivial problem to fix or a programming nightmare (or even impossibility)? I can't remember what other word-processors do, especially one widely known one, but I feel sure I would have encountered it, and remembered it.
