There are two other options in addition to this one:
1.   Check out the portable version of OpenOffice
(http://portableapps.com/apps/office/openoffice_portable).  At 65 MB,
it's fairly small, but like James pointed out, it's still going to be a
long download over dial up any way you cut it.
2.  Check out the computer magazines for a bundled copy of OpenOffice. 
I know it means you will pay some (about $7-$10 depending upon the
magazine), but this can save you a whole lot of time if your internet
connection is cramped.
