I have used Outlining in M$Office Word 2000 extensively, and the "Outline 
numbering" as used in OOo Writer (& Navigator) is not the same as outlining 
in M$Word. I also need a good outline tool for writing large papers. I am 
considering running M$Office Word 2003 in Wine (OSS) or Crossover 
(commercial) for the outline function.

I have tried a mindmapping tool called "FreeMind". It is quit good, and 
exports a Outline Numbered document.
