It sounds right to me.

There are only 2 things I can think of that might be causing the problem:

1. Using Only Right or Only Left page settings?
2. You've set the 'Next Style' to something other than the default?

Ummm... about all I can suggest if those don't help, is to create two more page
styles from the Default page style, and try again.

Although - how did you put page numbers into the footer on page 7?

OOo 2.2, Linux

I'm trying to follow the instructions in the Help file to start a
document with Roman numeral page numbers and then switch to Arabic page
numbers. The document is 172 pages long and I want Roman for the first
six pages. I created two new page styles, one called Roman and set it
to Roman numerals in the Page tab, and the other called Arabic and set
it to Arabic numerals in the Page tab. At the end of the Roman numeral
section I inserted a manual page break and specified to start the next
page with the Arabic page style. According to the Help file this should
set the next page with Arabic page numbers, but they steadfastly remain
Roman numerals.

I can manually edit the page number field in the footer for page 7 and
tell it to use Arabic numerals (Insert > Field). However, when I do so
it changes the numbers in the first six pages to Arabic as well.

I think I'm misunderstanding something fundamental here. What am I
doing wrong?
