thanks, i tried that already, but unfortunately this is not where my problem seems to be...

as a matter of fact, when i toggle the caps lock key OOo immediately tells me that the password is wrong (that means: the dialog described below, "The file is corrupt and therefore cannot be opened. Should OpenOffice.org repair the file?" does not appear).

somehow my password seems to be get accepted, at least initially; could there be a problem with the file as such??

thanks for any help!

Copied to OP.
This happened to me, I discovered that I needed to toggle the Caps Lock key. Then the password worked.

i am unable to open a password protected document (saved in .odt format). i last worked on the document yesterday and all was fine. as i tried to open the document today i get the following message (after entering the password):

"The file is corrupt and therefore cannot be opened. Should OpenOffice.org repair the file?"

when I hit "yes" the reponse that pops up reads:

"Read-Error: The wrong password has been entered."

i am absolutely sure that the password is correct. i do not remember OpenOffice crashing yesterday.

anyone know what's going on?

many many thanks for any help!

ps: i am using the OS X/X11version 2.2
