I'm writing because "mechtilde" referred me here after I asked for help through the "Issue" thing.
I only, occasionaly, use Open Office Writer. It's been at least two months since I last used it. Upon trying to use it today, it will not open. Documents created with it will not open. It still exists on my start list (says it's empty) and in Add or Remove Programs. I tried uninstalling (intending to re-install). It gives an error (attached) telling me that I need a disc to uninstall. I've never had an Open Office Disc of any kind. I downloaded Open Office and tried to install over the present program and I get a message telling me that the install can't continue because the old version can't be uninstalled. I think I had a similar problem backin April when I did an upgrade to Office 2.2. I use Windows XP Pro on a Dell XPS 400. At this point I think I'd be happy just being able to uninstall Open Office as it's really clear that it isn't suited to an old man who just wants to use it to write the occasional business letter and address the envelope. I am not, and don't want to be, a computer wiz Garin Wallace Tacoma WA
