First go to www.openoffice.org and click the big green "Get OpenOffice.org" button. Next click the System Requirements link and read carefully what it says. If you are running Windows on your computer, read what it says about Windows; if you are running Linux, read that bit. Etc. Compare the requirements with the attributes of your system. If you have what you need, or more, then you are in good shape. Use the Back button on your browser to go back to the download page and click the big green Download button. Follow the instructions carefully.

If you don't have broadband the download will take a while. You may prefer to buy OpenOffice on a CD. See further down the download page for a list of potential suppliers; expect to pay about USD 10 + P&P. Note that we are not affiliated to any of these suppliers and make no recommendations or guarantees.

Alternatively, many computer magazines carry free CDs or DVDs with OpenOffice on them. So for the price of a magazine you get OpenOffice.
