Perhaps you mean "you should never have to go into Base for this"? Yes, if you open the .dba file directly in Calc via File|Open, then yes you can copy multiple columns, etc., with no problem. However, it seemed (to me anyway) that the symptons Clive was experiencing were those that occur if you've opened the table in Base and then try to copy to a Calc spreadsheet.
