Ask your editor/publisher what format they'd prefer.  While OpenOffice can
export to PDF format, it doesn't edit PDFs.  Adobe has a near-monopoly on that.
OpenOffice can however use and edit .docs and many other compatible formats that
don't require your editor to have OOo.
