I would like to download the Calc program. If I download the openoffice pkg will the Word mess up the Word which came with Vista? Can I just download/purchase Calc?
OOo will work fine on Vista. You can install and use OOo alongside MS Office. You cannot download just the calc program. OOo is free to download so there is no need to purchase. However if downloading is a problem there are some vendors that will sell you a CD with OOo on it (usually comes with other applications as well). You can install just the 'calc' module, however this is not encouraged since OOo is an integrated Office suite and relies heavily on common components. The end result is that calc may not work as well if it is installed by itself.
