I receive the error message {SEE Attached File} as the setup program is completing the 'Copying files' routine toward the end of the Open Office 2.2.1 Setup program. I have never had any problems when installing Open Office any time before. Any ideas?

Your attachment did not get through the mail list software. This is normal. Please copy/paste or re-type the error message(s) into the text of your e-mail. Alternatively upload your file to a publicly accessible web site and provide a reference to it. www.mytempdir.com is a useful resource in this regard.

Error messages during the installation of OpenOffice are usually caused by one of the following (in decreasing order of likelihood): 1. The old version's Quickstarter is running; System Tray, grey icon with two flying birds; right click and choose Exit

2. Antivirus (AV) software thinking the installation program is a virus. Proceed as follows:
a) Disconnect your computer completely from the net
b) Disable your AV and firewall software
c) Retry the installation (after exiting any Quickstarter as above)
d) Enable AV and firewall
e) Connect to the net; *never* leave your system connected to the net if your AV and firewall software are not both running properly

3) Windows Installer Cleanup problem. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

4) The file you downloaded is corrupt. Follow the procedure to check the "md5sum" of the file you downloaded.
The procedure is at http://www.openoffice.org/dev_docs/using_md5sums.html
The relevant md5sum values are at http://download.openoffice.org/2.2.1/md5sums.html
