Instead of moving or copying, use the SAVE AS function on the file menu in 
Excel or OpenOffice. You can also use the option called VERSION on the file 
menu.
   
  I have never had more than 256 sheets in one Excel file. You may wish to 
search for your answer in the OpenOfficeCalc help file and search for "sheet" 
or "file size". Otherwise, you should contact the OpenOffice developer's list 
at http://website.openoffice.org/developer/.
