I have had the same problem - and ended up saving ALL work done in open
office as MS file types.... .doc .xls etc.
When saving these types of files there does not appear to be a problem.

If other software writers can manage to write applications that run in
Windows without problems, why can't contributors to Open Office.

Seems like it is a pretty brain damaged application if it cannot save
it's
native file format in an operating system it was designed to run under.

Isn't this the application that open source affecionados are hoping will
oust MS dominance from the PC/Windows marketplace?

I use OO purely because it is NOT an MS product, but it quite clearly is
miles behind other products - and as such will probably never become a
serously used application in the marketplace - a BIG shame.

I think before we 'throw the baby out with the bathwater' we need to look at
this rationally. If this issue was happening on a regular basis, then I
would agree with the 'not ready' comments. However since the most popular
issue on this list is still "Someone is selling OOo on eBay!!" I doubt this
is the case.

In addition I personally have never encoutered this issue while running OOo
(in various versions) on various windows OS's and Linux/BSD OS's...

If the solutions provided in the links are correct, the disk cleaning
utilities are the cause of the problem. In any event it seems that this
'issue' will be resolved in a later OOo release.
