We are in Writer - right? I don't know that you can. But you can
almost do it:
o Put the cursor where you want the tab.
o Use the mouse to insert a tab on the horizontal ruler.
o Click on the tab and drag it to and fro along the ruler. During
this drag, you will see a guide in the form of a vertical dotted line
drops from the tab across the text window. Since your cursor will
still be blinking at the required position, you can adjust the tab
position until the dotted guide line aligns correctly with the cursor.
But you probably knew all that ...
