Thanks Paul, I've looked at the page you've mentioned, and having no
programming experience this doesn't seem to be an option.

Fair enough...

When 'Save as' the Calc spreadsheet, there does not seem to be an option to
save as the native OOo XML format. There are many other formats available
(incl. saveing as an Excel 2003 XML file), but no other XML file. Could you
or someone else pleaseshed some light on that?

Sorry - should have explained myself a little more. The default format for
saving calc sheets, within OOo is the ODF ISO (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenDocument) standard. The file suffix when
saving a calc sheet should be .ods. This file is basically a collection of
files compressed together.

To get to the raw XML simply open the .ods file using an uncompression
program (eg, winzip, 7zip) and extract the file called 'content.xml'. In
this file is the content of your spreadsheet.

Again I'm not sure if this is what your after, or what level of modification
you need to do to get what your after, but this may be a start. You could
probably mimic what your after using macro's, but you'd need to learn OOo
macro language for that (unless someone nice on this list will provide the
service)...

HTH,

/paul
