Harold ..... that's terrific.
Thank you so much for the information.
I haven't utilized your suggestions yet as I wanted to be sure I thanked you
immediately so I wouldn't forget to do so.
Thanks again ...... David Harold Klufas ......
Some further suggestions:
From the start menu go into the Control Panel, then into Regional and
Language Option where you select the "Languages" tab and mouse-press the
"Details..." button. This will allow you to select a Spanish keyboard
and to set a key sequence to allow you to switch between the Spanish
keyboard and your normal keyboard anytime you wish. (Note: in Windows XP
the system is notorious for jumping to another keyboard when you switch
to another program, which can be quite annoying. This may also be so in
Vista.)
You can also download the US International keyboard which supports a
number of different languages and switch to it when you want to use
diacritics or other special characters.
(The main advantage of using this approach is that your keyboard will be
in synch with those used by many other other people.)
You can edit your own regular keyboard or any other keyboard you
install. Microsoft's keyboard editor is available for free at
http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/tools/msklc.mspx .
Finally, the utility AllChars is available at
http://allchars.zwolnet.com/ This allows you to type any character in
your current non-Unicode Windows code page, which includes everything
necessary for Spanish.
In my opinion, for most cases. one should not want to set up specially
defined keys as macros that will only work in OpenOffice.org Writer.
