No, unlike some other office packages OOo (OpenOffice.org)is a single fully integrated package, not a number of separate applications bundled together. See: http://user-faq.openoffice.org/faq/ar01s03.html#id2810817 It is possible, during the installation process, to only install specific components (in your case Writer), but this is NOT recommended. Each component supplies some functionality to each of the other components. There is an insignificant saving in disk space and memory usage, if you choose to do this.
