This is not strictly true, in fact: what works here in Excel does not
work in Calc. The questioner is alluding to Excel's facility to save
as what it calls a "shared workbook". This enables multiple users to
edit a single file and each open instance of Excel to respond to
changes made to the file by others.
As Gary Noop has implied, this is not (yet?) available in Calc.
