Wow!!! I think I will keep them! Or add some more and push them off the
end of the list as Brian suggested.
Thanks you for you reply!

Subject: Re: [users] Recent documents
Hi Joyce,
Joyce McClure wrote:
Under file, recent documents, I have a list of 10. Two are not valid and
I would like to delete them. A right click brings the same message as
the left click which is that there is no such file. I have done a lot
of hit and miss experimenting and obviously messed up at least a couple
of times. I would like to tidy up and have only usable "recent
documents" in that list. Can someone tell me how to delete them?

(1) Close OOo (quickstarter too) and go to
...\<user_name>\<Application_data>\OpenOffice.org2\user\registry\data\org\openoffice\Office\Common.xcu
and open the file Common.xcu with a text editor.
(2) Inside you'll find the list of 'Recent Documents' under:
<node oor:name="PickList">
(3) The ten entries (per default) of this list are from
<node oor:name="p0" oor:op="replace">
to
<node oor:name="p9" oor:op="replace">
Search the corresponding entries to your invalid files and delete
them, e.g. for 'Recent Document' #10, here named 'untitled_106.odt':
<node oor:name="p9" oor:op="replace">
<prop oor:name="Filter" oor:type="xs:string">
<value>writer8</value>
</prop>
<prop oor:name="Password" oor:type="xs:string">
<value/>
</prop>
<prop oor:name="Title" oor:type="xs:string">
<value>untitled_106.odt</value>
</prop>
<prop oor:name="URL" oor:type="xs:string">
<value>file:///C:/Dokumente%20und%20Einstellungen/mjk1/Eigene%20Dateien/A0_OOo/dev/untitled_106.odt</value>
</prop>
</node>
[That's from <node ...> to </node>;
please excuse me, it's a German WindowsXP ;-)]
(4) Save and close Common.xcu.
(5) Restart OOo ...
