How are you saving it? are you just using save? If so it will by default save 
it as an Open Text Document (.odt). You need to do save as and then change 
the file type to .doc or if you have the converter for the new Office2007 
installed as a .docx You don't say what OS you have. The converter I 
mentioned is for SUSE Linux. Older version of Office cannot handle the 
new .docx format as far as I know.  The othe problem is MS does not follow 
the standards which are .odt.
