Wow - that is an old version of OOo. I would suggest that possibly the functionality to open password protected excel spreadsheets wasn't in that version. Try upgrading to 2.2.1 and you'll find it open just fine (as long as the correct password is supplied). OOo can open Lotus 123 files - .wk1, .wks and wk3 ...
