Is a dialog coming up when you try to open a file, requesting a product
key? If so, chances are your operating system is assuming that it needs
an MS Office program (from an expired trial version, maybe). In that
case, all you need to do is change the file associations to use
OpenOffice.org instead. That would probably be done by right-clicking a
file of each different type and going through the "Open With" option to
find OOo, and setting that as the program to always use for this type of
file.
