As I understand it, Impress will not as yet play audio throughout a
presentation.

Thanks Johnny, I did a search, but unsuccessfully - I think I looked for
"audio" not "sounds". It is unclear whether that is actually in the
stable release and the help file doesn't mention it explicitly.
I don't have any PP files with sounds to check.
Howard - what version of OOo are you using, and what operating system?
2.2.1 is the current "stable" release. You may like to try out the
development release if it is not working in 2.2.1
