I just purchased Open Office because your ad said it will work seamlessly with
all of my existing MS Office documents, spreadsheets, etc. I don't have to
worry about converting old files....Open Office can handle them just as they
are.
So, I have a MS viewer spreadsheet that I wanted to be able to alter with
different numbers for different totals and I thought by purchasing this
program, it would seamlessly take over that spreadsheet and allow it to be
manipulated without any conversion...was I wrong? or what do I need to do get
up and going here.....
Thank you for your reply..

OpenOffice should be able to open and write Excel spreadsheets, other
than the lastest Office 2007 format and save it back as an XLS file.
However, bear in mind that there may be issues with macros.
BTW, you don't have to pay for OpenOffice. It's a free download from
www.openoffice.org.
Does Office Viewer actually create a spreadsheet or does it just create
a visual representation of the Excel file? I would not think that MS
would distribute a free program to allow outputting a file that could be
used by another company's software.
