Not quite sure what you're saying here, but OpenOffice provides updates
by updating the entire package, which is released on a fairly frequent
basis.  If a security issue is found there will be an update available. 
Also, Microsoft receives a lot of money for MS Office, whereas
OpenOffice receives none.  Yet, despite this, OpenOffice is in many ways
superior to MS Office.  As for MS always providing updates etc., their
track record tends to reveal otherwise.  You won't see a fix from them,
until they finally admit the problem exists.  This often leads to
vulnerabilities not being fixed for quite some time, if at all.
