Hi John
I am looking through a website for a job (www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk)
at the moment which produces pages of many records with many fields .
I cannot see from the website or other similar ones that their is a
possibility of a direct connection to their database .
While Base can theoretically connect to this Government database, you
would need permission (a username and password) and other details in order
to do so. I think I can be very confident that the Government will never
give you that information! You will normally only have access to the
database through their web forms.
Does any one know a better way than down loading each page and then
cutting and pasting relevant fields back into my own database .
Unless you are very technical, that may be the best way to proceed.
If you are a technical type of person, a tool like Proxomitron
(www.proxomitron.info) might be configured to save a few steps. I'm no
expert in how it works, but believe that it could be configured to suck
the information you want straight out of the web page.
Sorry I can't be of more help.
Adrian
