Admitedly OOo's search functionality can be a little tricky to use, but its
way more powerful once you are used to it.

To find spaces at the end of paragraphs start a new search (ctrl+f), enter
"  $" (without the quote marks and with the two spaces before the dollar
sign) into the 'search for' box, then select 'more options' and tick
"regular expressions"...

Obviously the above searches for two spaces. If only one is required then
only one should be put before the dollar sign. There cannot be spaces after
the paragraph return. The above will also find spaces on empty/blank lines.
