There is an industry standard document format used by OpenOffice.org and others called Open Document Format that is currently an official international (ISO) standard. Microsoft has refused to adopt this in Microsoft Office and instead came up with their OOXML format. I'm not going to go into details on why OOXML is not good, but recently Microsoft has been trying to get their OOXML approved as an International Standard. In MS Word, .docx files are OOXML. Note that Groklaw is a web site that tends to focus on legal issues around OpenSource. -- Jerry Feldman <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Boston Linux and Unix user group http://www.blu.org PGP key id:C5061EA9 PGP Key fingerprint:053C 73EC 3AC1 5C44 3E14 9245 FB00 3ED5 C506 1EA9 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
