When you go to Format | Bullets and Numbering... to set up the list (or go back there to adjust the formatting), pay attention to the Position tab. You get the effect you want by selecting Right for "Numbering alignment". If you try this - perhaps you already have? - you may find that it doesn't work. This is because there is not enough room for the alignment you need, and you need to adjust other values on this pane of the Bullets and Numbering dialogue to make it possible. In particular, make sure that the "Spacing to text" value is sufficiently large: you might want first to make this very large, so that you see the right effect, and then to reduce it to suit your preference.
