In column A I have some data.
In column B I put a formula that depends on the data in column A.

Now If I change the data in A, the result in B also changes. How can I
prevent that happening? I'm happy with the results and I'd like to keep them in such a way that they *can't* change regardless of what I do to column A.

Example.
In column A, row 1, I have, as text (*not* as a date/time), the data
"September 17, 08:30 AM". The rest of column A has similar data, all in the
same form.
I would like to have the "September 17" part in Column B and then go back
and change column A so it only contains the time part.

So I put in column B the formula "=left(A1;12)" which correctly puts
"September 17" (leftmost 12 characters) into B1. Now I want to make the
"September 17" in B1 *text* instead of the result of a formula, so that it
no longer depends on A1.

How? Please

Harold:

The only way I know how to do this is to copy the 'B' column cell(s) and Paste Special as a 'number' back into the cell(s).
