Thanks you so much for your quick response. It is encouraging that your
computer opens up this document correctly.

In order to try and solve the problem i downloaded and installed open office
(version 2.2.1) on my laptop so the screen caps are from my computer. Both
my boss and myself have this problem when opening mullah.xls with open
office.

The hidden column is for chipped panels. Its hidden because the data is not
important. I have updated mullah.xls so this column is now visible. The
problem remains even after unhiding column I and starts as early as cell K49

I have had a look at the recalculation issue. It is set for auto
recalculation. Pressing F9 does not make the problem go away.  See
