Hi Dave,

Many thanks for your help and reassuring advice. As you say, I will backup
everything, then uninstall v1 then install V2.3.

Thank you

Peter

The latest OOo (OpenOffice.org) version 2.3.0 (released in last 24hrs.)
will install along side of version 1.0 not upgrade it. You are free to
decide if you want to have both versions installed at the same time or
to uninstall the old version first. It doesn't matter which you choose,
but it may get a little confusing if you keep both.

Your saved data (eg. documents, spreadsheets, etc.) will not be lost or
affected by installing the latest version. However, it is always good
policy to backup all saved data, regardless of any changes or upgrades.
OOo version 2.x.x uses a different file format from the format used by
version 1.x.x, but this will not be a problem, because you will still be
able to open (and if required, save) data files in the old format.

You can expect to lose some of your OOo specific settings, but it should
not be too difficult to reconfigure these to your liking. You will also
have to reinstall any special dictionaries or language options you need.

I think you will find the upgrade worthwhile, but if you encounter any
problems please post back to this list and we can help point you in the
right direction.

Hope this helps.
