most likely the file is corrupted.

  Actually, I didn't install it from your sight but saved it on CD.
Trying to open it but getting above quote.  I'm not computer savvy.
All I really need is "writer".  Can I download "writer" only?  How do
I make openoffice.org version 2.3 a valid Win 32 application?  Sorry
for all the questions.

the individual applications are not separately packaged. there is only
one wholesome suite...in the name of integrity, i suppose.
