You can skip steps 2 - 4. Don't forget #1 - it is critical.

And for #6:

sudo dpkg -i openoffice.org-debian-menus_2.#.#-#_all.deb
instead you can use:
$ sudo dpkg -i *.deb
[there is only 1 .deb file in the folder]
