Agree that on dialup downloading OOo can be slow. However there is no option to download just the 'writer' component. Even if there was, the size (and therefore time) savings would not be large due to OpenOffice (OOo) being an integrated office suite. If you prefer OOo on a CD try this link : http://distribution.openoffice.org/cdrom/index.html#cdrom You could also try your local library for a book that carries OpenOffice on CD. Some magazines also come out offering OOo on there CD's.
