Hi All,
I am a football referee and use the FA's misconduct and caution forms
written in excel. These mostly work in OpenOffice.org version 2.x, but
one important conditional drop down menu does not work. These forms can
be downloaded from
http://www.thefa.com/GrassrootsNew/Referee/Postings/2006/09/Referee_misconduct_reporting.
The Standard Misconduct Form is the one that does not work fully in
OpenOffice.org and is referred to below.
These forms have menus that read cell information and give simple
options for the form. In this respect, the forms work OK.
However, in the misconduct form, there is the option in J18 to select
'sent_off' or 'am_reporting_for_misconduct'. This is straightforward.
Cell E26 is the main problem. This should use the value in J18 to open
one of two drop down menus, one of values S1 to S7 and another one
values 1a to 1c. Details for these options should also appear in the
blue box to the right of the form on the same sheet, (which is useful,
but not essential to me). Attempting to manually enter the value gives
an "Invalid Value" error.
These forms need to be sent back to the FA in excel format, but using
OOo in Linux or Windows does not allow me to send back the form without
destroying the macros or sending an incomplete form.
I have to fudge the form by saving it and opening it again using
OOo-1.1.5, which destroys the macros, so that I can manually type in the
required value, e.g. S5, into E26.
How can this issue be resolved in the meantime? Would an OOo equivalent
form translate properly into Excel? I am not practised in using drop
down menus in any office suite and wouldn't know how to debug it.
I hope this problem is resolved in OOo-2.4.
Thanks for your time.
