Maybe you should look at PCLinuxOS http://www.pclinuxos.com the 
default desktop is KDE if that is the one you like to use. This 
flavor is just as friendly and easy to configure as the one you are 
using. It also uses the official version of OOo so you don't need 
to download and install just run the Synaptic updates.
