John, Did you manage to get 2.3 installed? I hadn't noticed that you are not subscribed to this list, so you may have missed any response that pointed you to this link: http://www.8daysaweek.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=759 You can skip steps 2 - 4 in that you've already downloaded the deb files. Don't forget #1 - it is critical. And for #6: sudo dpkg -i openoffice.org-debian-menus_2.#.#-#_all.deb instead you can use: $ sudo dpkg -i *.deb [there is only 1 .deb file in the folder] Post back if you still have problems.
