To convert, I doubt it. But PDF is really a container file, and it is
possible to extract various pieces from one. You can pull out JPEGs, you
can pull out TEXT, those are the only ones I've tried.
I just did "apropos pdf" and got a long list of relevant programs, then
did "man" on ones that looked promising. I am running Linux Fedora 6,
but some of the stuff may be on, or portable to, Solaris.
