When I do a "Table of Contents" it shows the gray background - never noticed it to come up blank, in fact, I think it automatically put in the "Table of Contents" label and anything that was already marked as the right level of heading. Not sure how other tables behave, but it sounds like a blank table might be reasonable in many cases. Never tried "converting text to table."

This is consistent across 2.0.4 and 2.3, so I would expect 2.2 to be the same.

I am not quite sure of your point. this is a regular table with text in it (not a ToC) but the text doesn't show except in 'print preview'.

this is definitely not a case where it is reasonable to have a blank.

having used OpenOffice for yrs now I know its past behavior and as I said, this may even be something new that's occurred in my present setup but I cannot remember - not sure if I used a table here since the installation is still pretty new.

greets,

running OpenOffice 2.2 on Kubuntu 7.04 and just found that inserting a table or converting text to table makes a table which is blank - actually a dark grey - on the screen.

'page preview' displays the table and contents fine.

I believe this behavior is new but I cannot absolutely exclude the
possibility I just noticed it.

of course I have checked 'background' in 'table' and cells etc but it is set to 'no fill'. in 'Options' no background is set a default.

any tips?
