You don't have to purchase OpenOffice and I've never heard of version
4.  However, the latest version 2.3 is available as a free download from
www.openoffice.org.  In general, when software, not just OpenOffice is
updated, old short cuts may break, as the new version may use a
different name or location for the specified application.  If that
happens, just delete the old ones and create new.  Assuming you're
running on Windows and you have a proper install, you should be able to
find an OpenOffice folder and icons, off the "Start" menu.
