Hello Can you specify where you downloaded OOo from (which dmg file) What kind of file do you try to open (the one from your G4) What I find strange is that one doc opens, all the others not. Were they made with the same program (Word 2004 for Mac) ? And saved the same way? Can't you open any when you apple-click on them (Open With), or from inside OOo (apple-o)?
