I tried that first before responding & it made no difference on my document. I wouldn't expect bullets & line numbers to show as a field anyway unless they are actually included in an actual field. If I understand Graham's posting, he is showing the same problem in OpenSUSE 10.2 & 10.3 RC1. Out of curosity, I just tried it on an Ubuntu'ized OOo 2.3 (7.10 Gutsy) as they tend to modify similar to suse; no shading on that version either.
