Harold,

My thanks to you and to the others who replied for the various helpful remarks.

It might be of use to others to know that all I did was to edit the download
name - as
an experiment - changing US to UK. (It is interesting to me that it is GB not
UK that
is used in some of the links supplied in these replies.) Anyway, it worked. The
download offered was

OOo_2.3.0_Win32Intel_install_wJRE_en-US.exe

but

OOo_2.3.0_Win32Intel_install_wJRE_en-UK.exe

exists and it works. (Well I haven't had time to test the language version yet
but I
have opened both the word processor and the spreadsheet.)

What annoys me and I wanted to express is that the existence of e.g. Welsh is
made
explicit, but not UK English. Living in Wales as I do I am comfortable with the
idea
that UK English will sit side by side with Welsh in "Other Languages" but not
with its
being hidden.

Keith (a bit of a nationalist on the quiet - or even not so quiet)
