All of OpenOffice is completely free, including updates, even if you are
not a subscriber :-)
Support is also free via the volunteer support group.
The latest version is 2.3. To get it, go to
http://download.openoffice.org/index.html and click the big green
button. Then follow the instructions. Note that there are no
"incremental updates" with OpenOffice. Each new version is complete. If
you are updating from an older 2.x version then the new version will
overwrite the old - of course leaving your documents, templates etc.
intact. If you are upgrading from a version 1.x then the new version
will just be another program on your system and you can remove the old
version when you are happy with the new.
