See http://download.openoffice.org/2.3.0/md5sums.html for instructions and the checksum for the file you downloaded. If the checksums are different, try using a download manager program. Try one of those listed: http://download.openoffice.org/index.html or use "Peer to Peer" download BitTorrent technology, see: http://distribution.openoffice.org/p2p The following page may also be helpful: http://download.openoffice.org/common/instructions.html If checksum is OK, there may be something on your computer preventing the installer from running. One possibility is that you have Anti-Virus (AV) software installed which incorrectly determines that the installation program is a virus. In which case you could try the following procedure: a) Disconnect your computer completely from the net b) Disable your AV and firewall software c) Retry the installation (after exiting any Quickstarter as above) d) Enable AV and firewall e) Connect to the net; *never* leave your system connected to the net if your AV and firewall software are not both running properly Hope this helps.
