With all this discussion about what file formats OpenOffice can read, I would think that this illustrates the need for a cohesive transformation plan from whatever software suite you are coming from to OpenOffice. Even free software can pose problems if you don't know it's differences from what you are going to. Has anybody found such a plan and implemented it successfully. And not just "this function in Word is done as this in Writer".
